Top 9 Women's Fashion Trends You'll See in Fall/Winter 2021 - Fidgey Ray Boutique Takes on Atlanta Apparel Market!
A couple of weeks ago, Katie Ashley, the owner and CEO of Fidgey Ray Boutique, took a trip to Atlanta Apparel Market to scope out the cutest trends for fall and winter 2021.
Several times a year, Atlanta Apparel Mart hosts hundreds of manufacturers and vendors in women's fashion. This is an industry hub, where boutiques and stores can place orders for new items, meet and greet with manufacturers, and get an exclusive first look on next season's trends.
Today, I want to take you behind the scenes of Atlanta Apparel Mart, so you can learn allllll about the latest trends in women's fashion, and about what goes on behind the scenes at Fidgey Ray Boutique!
This year, I had the great honor of bringing along my mom, Kim, to market with me! She is a fellow business owner and a HUGE inspiration behind Fidgey Ray Boutique. I definitely wouldn't be where I am without her. Atlanta Apparel ran from June 9-12, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. We stayed in the hotel right across the street, and walked over each morning.
When you first walk into market, it can be very overwhelming because there is so much going on! Everywhere you looked, there is a boutique owner running around, trying to be the first in line. There are clothes literally EVERYWHERE, which is a retailer's dream come true. There were a TON of wholesalers from all different niches, including menswear, children's clothing, etc. We focused on young, contemporary looks and fashion for young women.
So, let's get to the juicy stuff! Here's the inside scoop on all of the latest women's fashion trends. You'll be seeing a lot of these trends blowing up this fall and into the new year.
#1. Graphic tees (bleached graphic tees, band tees, and witty graphic tees)
Trendy graphic tees for women are our bread and butter here at Fidgey Ray. This season, you can expect to see even more graphic tees of varying styles, including band tees, bleached tees, and trendy, witty tees. We found several new graphic tee manufacturers to feature in our store that are also woman-owned businesses, so we are so excited to show them to you soon!
A trend we are seeing over and over again in tee shirts is a vintage-inspired graphic tee look. WE LOVE THIS LOOK because there's so much you can do with it, and it will literally never go out of style. You can expect to see more vintage bands making their appearance on graphic tees soon, with more distressing and bleached designs to give you that vintage band tee vibe. If you missed 90s grunge, don't worry, it's making a come back!#2. Cow print (cow print everything, yall)
Okay, the most divisive trend of 2021 has got to be cow print. While we were at market, I actually bought the cutest cow print belt (see below), and I am in loveeeee. I'm really loving the cow print design this season, but a lot of women in our VIP group still prefer leopard print over cow print.
We've seen cow print on EVERYTHING for this season. Cow print belts, cow print hats, cow print bell bottoms (I loved), cow print belts, and cow print shoes. #3. Pleated skirts (my favorite upcoming trend!!!)
My favorite trend for next season HAS to be the pleated skirt. We saw this trend over and over at market and we're soooo excited for all the ways to style it! If you don't know what we mean, we're talking about pleated tennis skirts - think Clueless or Nancy Drew style. We saw these in plaid and solid colors, as well as some other patterns. I definitely loved the neutral pleated skirts, because they are gonna be soooo easy to pair with an assortment of clothing (think: sweaters, sweater vests, graphic tees, bodysuits, etc).
One of the cutest trends we saw in athleisure this season was the tennis skirt/tennis skort combos! This one is perfect everyone - from mamas on the go to busy college students. We are SO happy that tennis skirts are coming back, because who doesn't love the cute, dainty style of a tennis skort and the super cute outfit options that come from it?! From the gym, to running errands, we are TOO EXCITED for this fall 2021 trend.
#5. Boho western style
We are seeing more and more of that boho western vibe, which is perfect for Fidgey Ray Boutique! We specialize in southern chic style, so large belt buckles, natural stone accessories, FRINGE, and bell bottoms make our hearts super happy. Expect to see more fringe at Fidgey Ray Boutique this year! We are ultra excited about this trend. :)
#6. Dainty, muted florals
Along with that boho-inspired look, we're seeing lots of muted, earth tone florals that are going to be perfect for fall. I feel like the muted florals has a very 90s feel, so I'm excited to see that vintage vibe coming back for fall and winter 2021 style.
#7. Athleisure
After COVID, athleisure isn't going anywhere! With a lot of society not returning to full time work in an office, we saw a TON of athleisure still out there. We mentioned the tennis skirts and graphic tees earlier...expect to see a lot more clothing built for movement in fall/winter 2021. We got used to this level of comfort, and we are not letting go now!
#8. Going out attire
The only big difference this year is we can finally go out! We saw a tonnnn of cute dresses, tops, and pants that are perfect for going out. This year, expect to see outfits made to be seen. Fall/winter 2021 will bring a lot of going out outfits, date night looks, cute outfits for events, and just feel-good fashion.
#9. Sweater vests (WHAT?!)
The final (and weirdest) trend of fall 2021 DEFINITELY has to be sweater vests. This is one that I can honestly say I didn't see coming, but it was everywhere! Granted, the sweater vests we saw at market were actually cute (unlike that weird plaid one we all wore in 1st grade...). The women's sweater vest look this season is actually adorable - slouchy fit, neutral colors, and high quality fabric elevate the traditional sweater vest look into something we actually want to wear. Perfect for pairing with a plaid skirt!
